TEDx Aston

TEDx overview

TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover ideas worth spreading. TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events. These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities. TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks, and are organized independently under a free license granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TEDx, but event organizers agree to abide by our format and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organizing and more. They learn from us and from each other. More than 3000 events are now held annually.

Aims and Objectives: 

To film and create eight talks that are compelling and engaging for the TEDx platform.

To create a video ahead of the event for promotional purposes.

Requirements:

  • To film eight topics using first-party shooting or pre-recorded footage (depending on covid-19 restrictions).
  • Short promo video ahead of the event.

 B-roll captured on the day of the event .

What’s the big idea?

Videos proposed:

 

  • B-roll of the TEDx Aston event
  • Promo TEDx – YouTube
  • – This video includes B-roll footage of performances as the interview is being taken 
  • – Short promo video (30 seconds) similar to the link above but shortened for conciseness

– TEDx Event/ Speakers Talks – This project will see a video produced for each speaker at the event. The video will encapsulate the delivery of the speaker alongside capturing the atmosphere of the audience. This will include a three-camera setup. One straight on a wide shot, one tight tracking side angle and one mounted camera to capture dynamic shots of the event. 

  • – TEDx Aston University Promo- We will create a short promo to be used for the upcoming TEDx Aston University event in September to be used for marketing purposes. 

– B-roll footage taken throughout the TEDx Aston event, showing off the different parts of the event such as acts, speakers e.c.t

Visual design.

Cameras

Dependant on filming requirements we would use Canon Cinema camera’s (C200 / C100) or Sony (A7S range) for cinematic shots/slow-motion/b-roll. 

B-roll

Where appropriate we can integrate animation, graphics and ‘B-Roll’, supplementary footage to add to the story

Audio design.

Sound FX

Sound FX shall be used where appropriate to draw the viewer deeper into the experience, Some FX could include: interactive sound design, risers, bass drops, appropriate ambient sound 

Music Track

Impactful music track which compliments the style of video will be chosen. Changing music tracks to compliment the mood if required – e.g. a more sombre sound track during a challenge being depicted and a more uplifting track during an achievement. 

Social optimisation.

Should your video project be distributed across social media, we will optimise the video appropriately. Subtitles can be added to all versions to ensure maximum engagement for those viewers who are watching without sound.

We can ensure the video deliverables are given in multiple dimensions and are fit for purpose when distributing on each social media platform, for example: 9:16 ratio for Instagram TV/Stories & 4:5 version for Instagram posts and Facebook posts, 16:9 for LinkedIn. (see diagram)
