THE BACKGROUND

Fancy is a new to market dark store taking the UK by storm. Recently required by multibillion dollar US firm GoPuff, Fancy delivers home essentials and refreshments straight to your door in 30 minutes or less. The aim was to produce a regional specific campaign showcasing the service Fancy offers with a Birmingham edge to appeal directly to the people of Birmingham.

THE CHALLENGE

We needed to establish Fancy as an exciting, reliable and interesting brand alongside showing the benefits of using their service. We needed to have a national level idea with a regional focus hence the decision to shoot the video in Birmingham and distribute the ad online to specifically target people in Birmingham. The brand aims to focus on the student demographics due to their current behavours of ordering on demand services and therefore more likely to adopt Fancy’s offering.

THE SOLUTION

We decided to create an advert which brought together humour, meme culture and cityscape shots under one fast paced high end commercial. We positioned two young people in a setting where they were enjoying the football. As half time came and the ads typically play we introduced a meme reference of ‘what is he thinking’ when in fact the actor was watching a refreshment commercial. After the order is placed we tranisiton into the ‘Fancy man’ perspective, reimaging the warehouse as a bat cave with the rider transitioning throughout the different landmarks within Birmingham before the items are dropped off to the house.
